The Davis Gray Fund

A scholarship fund created for transgender women of color

About UsScholarship Form

The Davis Gray Fund

Davis Gray Fund is a scholarship fund created for transgender women of color who are high school seniors or currently enrolled in an accredited college, university or trade school.

Our mission is to help transgender women pursue and obtain a degree of higher education or certification in a specialized field by providing funding to the award recipients.

Transgender persons, particularly transgender women of color are more susceptible to becoming victims of violent crimes, poverty, and unemployment. The Davis Gray Fund is here to help those transgender women who are seeking to better themselves through the educational system, thus hoping to help decrease these elevated statistics.

There is no age limit to apply, however all applicants must be U.S. Citizens and identify and live as a transgender person.

Founder – Amira Gray

As founder of the Davis Gray Fund, Amira Gray; a known advocate of the LGBTQ+ community found it necessary to create a resource specifically for trans women of color. Knowing the importance of an education, she was inspired by her family and her own experiences with discrimination based on her trans identity. Always considering herself one of the lucky ones, Amira felt it only necessary to give back in a way she controlled.

Amira artistically is known for her dramatic acting skills, which have seen her play lead in several short films and supporting actress in award winning independent feature films. She was able to use her talent to help create change from the inside by sitting on diversity and inclusion panels for CBS studios, CSA-Casting Society of America, and USC talent week as a feature panel speaker. She professionally has decided to no longer take on roles that showcase her as a trans character experiencing trauma or acting out many of the stereotypical false narratives that plague the trans community. She believes you must be the thing you want to see, weather on screen or in real life. Amira’s very existence is a revolution but through her actions both known and unknown she hopes to make things better for those persons coming up after her.

Since its inception in 2016, the Davis Gray Fund has assisted trans women in various areas, such as securing and maintaining housing, providing aid specifically during the pandemic of 2020, and in educational and basic daily life needs.
